Hi, I’m Chiara
which is Italian for Claire.
I’m not Italian, but I do have a deep love of wine and pasta.
I also genuinely love building websites & problem-solving tricky digital problems.
Most of my clients come to me via word-of-mouth and I’ve been a full-time freelance web designer for almost 10 years.
Word of Mouth
Most of my customers come to me via referral.. here is why
GET TO KNOW YOUR NEW WEB DESIGNER
I started my freelance journey in Cape Town, just after my second daughter was born. I quickly picked up regular “white-label” work for a hosting company (UniWebServe) and a Social Media Marketing company (ITM), as well as working with many individual clients – all through word of mouth.
In 2018, we returned to the UK. This was a hard transition as it meant leaving my Mum behind.
We love living in Devon & having shipped our pets over (my husband doesn’t like to talk about this costly endeavour) we are regularly found stomping muddy tracks through forests, moors, and countryside.
I genuinely love freelancing and am passionate about building beautiful, cost-effective websites for my clients.
One of my main priorities is to make your life easier. I do this by formulating an understanding of your business and then mapping a detailed customer journey to ensure that the website I build is bespoke and designed for your specific needs.
I love solving digital problems and ensuring that user experience is never compromised; from easy-layouts to bespoke web designs to rebranding or e-commerce web stores, I am thorough & I pride myself on going the extra mile for my clients.
I would love to help you with your next project – so if you have any questions, or just need some advice… please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
HTML & CSS
I learnt to code websites back in 1999, long before WordPress or any other website builder was available. We used Notepad to write our code & then Internet Explorer to test the code.
My favourite part of coding like this was to delve into the code to find small errors when something didn’t work as expected.
full-time freelance web designer
I started my freelance journey in South Africa, where we were living at the time. In 2018 we moved back home to the UK and I started building up my client base again in rural Devon.
Fast forward to 2021 and I now have a lovely base of regular clients and a growing network of agencies & businesses that I provide web design & support services to.
working with WordPress & DIVI
When I left full-time employment to have children, I wanted to find a way to earn money, but also to be available for my daughters.
I first started advertising on Gumtree as a logo designer, but this quickly morphed into offering web design services too. Since then, I’ve been lucky enough to work regularly with agencies & clients around the world.
